Destination: Thulite Quarry near Omak

This outing will coincide with a trip from the Chief Joseph Rock and Gem club. This will be a great opportunity to meet another club and network for additional trips, sites, and materials.
This is to a paid site with great material ranging from small to huge boulders at $1/pound.
Thulite is a rare pink variety of Zoisite. The site also produces some iolite and occasionally crystals.
Leave Lynnwood at 6:30 AM –
Arrive Riverside, WA (north of Omak) 11 AM (4 hours travel plus 30 minutes for stops)
Meetup with Chief Joseph Rock and Gem Club at 11 AM in Riverside
Drive 15 miles to mine
Spend up to 2.5 hours at mine
Material has been scratched out with backhoe and contains pink thulite, iolite, and zozite. Cost is $1/pound.
Leave Riverside about 2 PM
Return to Lynnwood about 7 PM
1.) Due to distance and schedule coordination with mine owner, the trip must leave promptly at 6:30, so be sure to arrive in Riverside on time.
2.) Proper phone contact and registration is required so that trip leader, Don Wilcox, can contact you prior to the 29th to discuss any carpooling needs as well as provide updates regarding any possible impacts from Eastern Washington wildfires.
