Denny Creek Information Page

Departure Location: SW corner of Lynnwood Target Parking Lot

Travel time: 1 hour to Denny Creek Trail Head

Materials: Epidote, garnet, hematite, magnetite, load stone, pyrite, and quarts

Epidote   Grosular Garnet


Special Instructions: Northwest Forest Pass required for each vehicle at trail head

Bring Food and water

Tools: rock hammer, chisel, backpack and rock carry containers, two-way radios, water spray bottle (optional), and good hiking clothes

Conditions: This is a class IV (some steep hills and rock scrambling) to the collection site with a 1.25 mile hike from 3,600 feet altitude to 4,200. The stream crossing is very easy as the water level is quite low. Conditions are easier at the bottom of the collection Site, Mineral Gulch, but quickly go to a Class IV as you ascend, which is not required to get good material.
