Thulite Field Trip
9/24/2016
Riverside, WA

Trip Coordinator: Tracy Ulbricht 425.344.3991

This is expected to be a two night venture. Most of us will be arriving on Friday and leaving on Sunday.

We will meet at the picnic area next to the Riverside Grocery store in Riverside at 9:30am on Saturday morning. There is a charge of $1.50 per pound CASH. Bring plenty of it, because this stuff is beautiful and I am sure you will not want to leave with less than 60 lbs of it once you see it.
Riverside Grocery Store Address is 102 N Main St, Riverside, WA 98849. We will gather there to meet up with our guide and to get familiar with where we are going and what is expected of us as visitors to the Private Thulite location. Please remember that we are guests and there are not many that have been able to visit due to the families wishes, so please be as respectful as you all are to our fellow rock hounders and the private property, pack in-pack out.
At this time I do not have any information on where to locate Zebra Stone or Serpentine, but I am hoping that will change.
Bring lots of water and a sack lunch. We are expecting to return to the meet up point to have lunch and talk about possible other areas to visit.

CLOTHES: long pants are always the best way to go out in the field, good boots, long or short sleeved shirt, hat, gloves and possibly a light weight jacket. It is expected to be in the low 70's, but it can be chilly in the morning and weather may change between now and then, so pay attention to the weather forecast and dress accordingly.

TOOLS: 2-3 buckets, good gloves, rock hammer, medium to larger rock chisels, crow bar, sledge ( 5 lb or more is a good idea), hard rocking tools will do the job. For the most part we will be breaking out and breaking up what we want. There is a lot sitting around as well, to just pick up.

ACCOMMODATIONS: there are several Motels and Hotels in the town of Omak, 30 miles south of Riverside, ranging from $49.00 -$149.00 a night. We have received a group rating for our group for the Pepper Tree Inn Best Western in Omak. The quoted rates are for a Single King at $116.00 per night and for a Double Queen room at $125.00 per night. The Single King automatically has a pull out bed for a third guest, you just ask for linens. There is a free breakfast and 24 hr pool, sauna and hot tub. Call me if you are interested in the group rate, we will need at least 4 couples to get this rate.
Otherwise there are two RV parks with all kinds of different camping sites in Riverside. Margie's RV park pricing is from $15 a night for two person occupied tent site to $25 a night for full RV hook up. There is availability for the weekend of the 24th. You can call them at 509.826.5810. Tell her you are with the Maplewood Rock and Gem club and they will try to group those staying there next to each other.

You will be signing a release of harm form for the guide before collecting and that is mandatory.
